Erfolgreiche Zuchtstute auf dem Katahrinenhof
Among
visitors of Dr. Nagel's studfarm in northern Germany it is a well-known
fact that something is always taking place at this place. Many events
that influence Egyptian breeding programs world-wide are initiated
here. Salaa El Dine would know what I am talking about, since he
has witnessed the bustle over the last twenty years. Well, he has
taken a vital part in the developments, too.

Salaa
El Dine came into the world on June 28th 1985, being the last foal
born to Dr. Nagel's all-time favourite mare, Hanan. He enjoyed his
youth frolicking on the pastures of Katharinenhof. When he was two
years old he was bred to Lotfeia (Alaa El Din x Bint Kamla), a half-sister
of his dam. In the following year the ethereal beautiful colt Nejdy
was born who proved true to the type of his sire. Nejdy was later
to set the ball rolling when he sired Ibn Nejdy who raised to international
stardom by siring the eye-catching Hafid Jamil, the sire of the
beautiful and popular young sire, Jamal El Dine. Five generations
of stallions, all raised at Katharinenhof in less than twenty years!

In
1989, Salaa El Dine's second year at stud, eight foals were born,
among them the prolific sire Nahaman (x Ameera) and the refined
Adnan (x Ghazala). In 1993 his fiftieth foal was born and, eventually,
in 1995 the hundredth. By now, he has more than 200 foals on the
ground. Until this very day Salaa El Dine remains as one of Germany's
most popular straight Egyptian sires. His foals are sought after
both at home and abroad, particularly in the Middle East, where
he has acquired something of a following.

When bred to mares genetically close to him, he tends to sire graceful,
elegant and fine-boned foals. Particularly with descendants of the
legendary mare Kamla he passes his incredibly beautiful eyes on
to his offspring. A long croup like their sire's is found in many
of his foals as well as the sought-after high tail carriage. Small
ears and wide nostrils create a special expression and contribute
to the highly valued general impression of an exotic creature. Like
their sire the foals of Salaa El Dine know what they like and dislike.
They do not follow instructions blindly. However, they are easily
persuaded with a combination of sensitiveness and firmness.
These are smart foals with a high degree of amiability.
