Most of you are familiar with the photographs of Nicole Sachs -
they are a vital part of our site. We asked her to put together
an album with some of the photos which are close to her heart.
We hope you'll enjoy them as much as we did.

These are my favourite
mare portraits: Tamria II (by Ansata Halim Shah) and Adalat
(by Ameer) are exotic and feminine as Arabian mares can be. They look
even
impressive when they just stand in their paddock and look into the distance.
For me the ideal of beautiful Arabian horses regardless of show titles.

El Thay Mameluk
(Ibn Nazeema x El Thay Mansoura),
photographed at the stud of the von Elm's family. What can I say?
This is the stallion I'll never get tired to photograph

10 years later:
The cute black foal photographed at Dr. Nagel's studfarm
at the side of her dam has blossomed into a fleabitten grey mare
with dark pigmentation. Fatima (Nejdy x Maarshafa) looks extremely impressive
now.
It is always interesting to see what has become of the foals I photographed
so many years ago.
But isn't it sad to recall those who never had the chance to grow up?

Al Mokhtar Sqr (El
Habiel/Shaheen x Zandai Arabia) at last year's show
in Cairo. Here you see how vivacious Egyptian horses can be.
The stallions are rearing, some get loose and the judges could come
in extremely dangerous situations. However, for visitors it is very
entertaining to
see those noble creatures prancing through the arena.

El Thay Mazeer (El
Thay Mameluk x El Thay Maheera)
Mounazzah (El Thay Mameluk x Mamlouka)
El Thay Maymounah (El Thay Ibn Halim Shah x El Thay Bint Kamla)
These three photos
show how horses are able to look at us with
fascinating intensity. And look at their curious faces - like children!
Isn't this irresistible?

Al Lahab (Laheeb
x The Vision HG), photographed at the Friedmann
Stud in 2002. Looking at this photo makes me hope to photograph
him again as an older stallion. I am sure he will look magnificent then.

In 2002 the young
Salim Bin Laden participated at the dancing horse competition
held in conjunction with the National Show at El Zahraa.

A proud horseman,
a very noble chestnut stallion,
impressive saddle and bridle, an attractive show
and a problematic family.

I love this photo
of Sameer (Mohafez x Sabah) very much because
everything looks curved and rounded at his neck and shoulder.
The chestnut glossy coat brings out those lines
extremely well. I would like to touch him!

Hafid Jamil (Ibn
Nejdy x Helala) - to photograph this horse is
sheer delight. He possesses a certain charm and charisma you
can't escape. With his alert look you certainly don't need the
colourful background - but it was there anyway.

This photo was taken
at the Asil Cup in 1993 and I like it because it was seldom
seen that the two stallions El Thay Ibn Halim Shah (Ansata Halim Shah
x Mahameh)
- on the left - and El Thay Mansour (Ansata Halim Shah x El Thay Maheera)
were on display at one show. El Thay Ibn Halim Shah met an untimely
death
through a car accident while El Thay Mansour was sold to Count Zichy-Thyssen
and later exported to Jordan. Very sad that I can not take this picture
again

At first glance
the photo of Adl (Ikhnatoon x Enayah) doesn't look perfect.
The halter isn't exactly elegant, the lighting isn't correct but Adl's
upright
carriage and his proud look says it all: He is the head of El Zahraa!

These are two old
portraits of the late stallion Madkour I (by Hadban Enzahi)
I have taken in the year 1990. The first one shows him in his typical
mood
but the second one (which I prefer) reveals a totally different horse

Dorian Shah Halima
(Ansata Ibn Halima x Dorian Shahwaniah).
This is a snapshot. The twenty-year-old mare was very bored during the
photo session. The result is this very relaxed photograph of her.

A very unusual portrait
of Maysoun (Ansata Halim Shah x Maysouna)
that emphasizes his relationship to Ansata Halim Shah in an impressive
way.

Magd Al Badeia.
Photographed at the farm of
Dr. Nasr Marei in Cairo. Pure power
