Every year at the end of October the Egyptian Agricultural Organization (EAO) is giving Egypt's National Show at the El Zahraa State Stud. This time the international panel of judges include Christine Chazel/France, Dr. Francesco Santoro/Italy and Támas Rombauer/Hungary.   The results of the show spread like a wildfire: All four National Champions were bred and owned by a single breeder – Dr. Nasr Marei of Al Badeia Stud. Besides the championships, his horses won ten classes alltogether and two seconds in other classes. Not a bad show for Nasr Marei!
Free from envy, numerous breeders and friends of Arabian horses from all corners of the world sent him their heartfelt congratulations.

His answer to all your enthusiastic comments in our Forum: "Preparing for a show and especially the Nationals as everyone knows is a lot of work. Going through the two days of the ordeal and tension is an additional stress. I went through that like anyone would and like I did many times before.

"My horses won not only all four championships but firsts in ten classes and two seconds in other classes. I should say that I was hoping and planning this success to happen. It was a goal set - and me and my non-professional handlers worked toward realizing it. I personally worked with these two guys and trained and conditioned the horses.
Normally one would excel from happiness and show it by laughing or screaming and shouting. I was too numb to do anything of that sort. I just watched the horses and the score of the judges and then the welcomed announcements. I absorbed victory with no reaction.

"24 hours after the show I read your Forum, saw the pictures and read the comments. All of a sudden this subdued pressure that was building for the last two months was released. Tears exploded from my eyes and I was sobbing like a child. Buddy my favorite German Shepherd looked at me and turned his head aside in amazement. He was not sure what was happening. He got up and put his head on my knee. So I hugged him and started laughing. I am sure that he thought that his master went crazy."

"I had never experienced that feeling before. It is not the first time that I win shows like that. It is the kind words that those nice and genuine people (most of them I do not know in person) had to say in the Forum. My love to the horse is extreme and is not surpassed  - except by the love of people who like horses as I do and whom have good words to other horse lovers."

Nasr Marei and Buddy

Al Badeia is one of the most renown studfarms of Egypt. Horses have always been with Dr. Nasr Marei. "As a four-year-old child, I refused to eat my meals except in the stables with the horses", he relates. "I always liked the smell, the sound, and the sight of the horse since I can remember."
Is it any wonder that
Nasr Marei has become a master breeder in his own right?
