"The beauty of his head, eyes, ears, jaw, mouth and nostrils should be seen to be appreciated. The ears are not small, but are so perfectly shaped that they appear small. The head is short from the eye to the muzzle and broad and well developed above. The eye is peculiarly soft and intelligent with a sparkle characteristic of the breed. Yet when it light up with excitement it does not have the strained wilde look, and pained, staring expression often seen in European horses. The nostrils, long and puckered, are drawn back and are capable of great distension. The neck is a model of strength and forms a perfect arch that matches the arch of his tail. The throat is particularly large and well developed. It is loose and pliant when at rest, and much detached from the rest of the neck. This feature is not often noticed, though it is indicative not only of good wind, but of prolonged exertion without distress, owing to the great width between the jaws. The two great features, possibly, that a novice would notice quickest in the Arab horse, are the forehead, or "jibbah", which cannot be too prominent, and the tail set high and carried in an arch."
Is this a description of the stallion HILAL AL NAKEEB (NK Hafid Jamil x Bint Bint Hamamaa by Nabiel)? Surprisingly not. Although he would perfectly fit into this picture, the famous breeder Homer Davenport wrote these lines back in 1911. Hilal Al Nakeeb was born in 2002 at Al Nakeeb Arabians in Great Britain, owned by Hassanain Al Nakeeb. Obviously this type of horse isn't an "invention" of today's breeders.
Currently on lease to Al Bawady Stud in Egypt, the beautiful Hilal Al Nakeeb traces in tail female line to the Koheilan Rodan family through the Bint Riyala branch. His sire, NK Hafid Jamil, represents the breeding program of Dr. Nagel in Germany and features four crosses to his foundation mare, Hanan (Alaa El Din x Mona). Bint Bint Hamamaa, Hilal's dam, is an exquiste daughter of Nabiel out of an Ansata Ibn Sudan daughter. She is also the dam of the champion producing stallion Shaheen (by El Haddiyah) at Omar Sakr's farm in Egypt and stand along his son Hilal Al Nakeeb at Al Bawady Stud.
The fleabitten grey is one of the most refined and typey stallions you can imagine and to watch Hilal Al Nakeeb stepping out of the dark stall into the bright light of the Egyptian sunshine is a sight you will treasure forever...

"Man muss die Schönheit von Kopf, Augen, Ohren, Kinn, Maul und Nüstern sehen, um sie zu ermessen. Die Ohren sind gar nicht klein, aber so perfekt geformt, dass sie klein erscheinen. Der Kopf ist kurz vom Auge zur Nase, oberhalb des Auges aber breit und gut entwickelt. Der Augenausdruck ist auffallend sanft und intelligent mit einem rassetypischen Funkeln. Trotzdem nimmt es auch in der Erregung nie den angestrengt wilden Blick an, den schmerzlichen, starren Ausdruck, den man so oft bei europäischen Pferden sieht. Die länglichen, gekräuselten Nüstern sind zurückgezogen, können sich aber weit blähen. Der Hals ist die Verkörperung der Kraft; sein vollendeter Schwung entspricht dem Schwung des Schweifes. Der Kehlgang ist breit und gut entwickelt. Im Ruhezustand ist die Kehle entspannt und biegsam, deutlich abgehoben vom übrigen Hals. Dieser Eigenschaft wird oft nur wenig Bedeutung zugemessen, obwohl sie nicht nur ein Anzeichen von guter Atemkapazität ist, sondern auch - infolge der Breite zwischen den Backenknochen - von großer Ausdauer auch bei starker Anstrengung. Die beiden Eigenschaften, die auch Unerfahrenen zuerst auffallen würden, sind die Stirn oder "jibbah", die so vorgewölbt wie nur möglich sein soll, und der hochangesetzte, schön geschwungene Schweif."
Ist das die Beschreibung des Hengstes HILAL AL NAKEEB (NK Hafid Jamil x Bint Bint Hamamaa von Nabiel)? Überraschenderweise nicht. Obwohl er fast perfekt damit übereinstimmt, schrieb der bekannte Araberzüchter Homer Davenport diese Zeilen schon 1911. Hilal Al Nakeeb wurde im Jahr 2002 auf dem Gestüt "Al Nakeeb Arabians" in England geboren. Offenbar ist der Typ dieses Pferdes keine Erfindung heutiger Züchter!

Bint Bint Hamamaa, Hilals Mutter, ist eine exquisite Tochter von Nabiel aus einer Ansata Ibn Sudan-Tochter. Sie ist außerdem die Mutter des Champion-Vererbers Shaheen (von El Haddiyah), der auf dem Gestüt von Omar Sakr in Ägypten Zuhause ist und steht Seite an Seite mit ihrem Sohn Hilal Al Nakeeb auf dem Gestüt Al Bawady.
