In 2007 well-known photographer and Arabian horse breeder Erwin Escher had a dream: he desperately wanted a filly from his favourite broodmare GR Nashida (Classic Shadwan x Nejdschah) by famous World Champion and Dubai Gold Champion Al Lahab (Laheeb x The Vision HG).

Sometimes our dreams do not come true in the way we wanted. Instead of a filly GR Nashida gave birth to a colt in 2008. But Erwin was not disappointed. On the contrary, he was extremely happy because the colt turned out to be a beautiful combination of his sire Al Lahab and his maternal grand sire, the multi champion Classic Shadwan (Alidaar x Shagiah Bint Shadwan).

Becoming three years old this year, GR Lahab presents himself as an extremely elegant and big colt. He has not only a fine and dry head with wonderful eyes and a chiseled muzzle, but also a long fine neck. GR Lahab is still a youngster. Like his grandsire Classic Shadwan he is late-maturing, and consequently has a lot of developing to do. Nevertheless Erwin and Annette Escher have high hopes for this upcoming star. He covered his first mares as a two year old and the Eschers expect the first babies this spring.
