Concerning the saddlebred / non arabian look, what do you say about this horse. I another forum people were excited how great it was but I couldn't really see why. Is this horse really looking "arabian"? What do you think?

I love the videos on the Arab Horse website. I've never seen American classes before and it's so cool to see 'em. I didn't realise you don't have a trot up over there (unless it was edited from the vids). It adds a dash of excitement to the class.

The hunter pleasure thing was a bit dull to watch, with 'em all trotting up and down and then standing in a looooooong line for ages... But I like the idea of producing arabians for performance like that.

The only gripe I have is in two of the halter classes one of the entrants was definitely lame, but the judge never sent them out. Actually, my other gripe is when DA Valentino was messing about he tucked his beautiful little head and kinked his tail and looked all-arabian, then off the handlers go and stretch them out like giraffes which for the not-so-good ones hid a wealth of faults.

But hey, I do not want to start a debate. It was FANTASTIC seeing all those gorgeous horses. I hope there are some more online vids of the US shows out there. I'd love to see the jumping classes one day online as I can't go over there.

I did like both Aria Impresario and DA Valentino (I really, really, liked DA Valentino). Big, butch and beautiful. Nice one. smile.gif

Please help train my eyes:

March 5,12:41 post----what shoes/pads???? are on this horse's fronts?

March 5, 6:33 post-----long pasterns, steep shoulder, looks like several horses
glued together, I would not want to ride that one

March 4, 6:37 post-----do you see puffiness in her lower joints already?

Hard to tell with it standing like that. Put in a more araby position and then I'll be able to say.

Marilee - no horse is perfect! I think most of the classwinners were quite respectable and I have to admit after recent years when really un-araby horses appeared at the event this year the entrants were actually quite good. Besides, there's something about US conditioning. Last year Piaff looked a completely different horse, I didn't recognise him! I'm not saying it's better or worse, just different.
