Just found this ,,, AlliP sent this site and i saw this there ,, and u know how i feel about horses that are not there anymore in our barns ,,
miss them all ,, spicial my dear hero..

With velvet muzzle
And breath so sweet.
The wisdoms of life
Coursed through your soul.
Your gentle presence,
Gone from the barn….
But never gone from my heart.
For your spirit will live on…
And my heart and soul are forever changed,
By having you in my life.

You now walk in the company,
Of the great horse ancestors.
With their knowledge and secrets
Of unanswered questions.

My heart is heavy,
With missing you.
But time will help
To heal this wound.
For life is a cycle of being…
And death is a part of life.
Cinnamon Girl…
With strength, beauty and grace…
All the way to the end.
Your lessons on earth completed…
So life goes on…
And my heart weeps.

I made a poem that I really thought turned out great. I don't know where it is now. *sigh* It should be on disc somewhere but who knows which disc. You would've liked it b/c it's a tribute to the Arabian.

He can't complain, but God's omnicient eye
Beholds thy cruelty - He hears his cry!
He was designed thy servant; not thy drudge,
But know - That his Creator is thy judge.

Unknown author from The Ladies' Equestrian Guide, 1857

Though not written for the horse only, these two remain among my favorite quotes or poety regarding animals!

"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who deal likewise with their fellow men."
-St. Francis of Assisi

Obligation

They cannot ask for kindness
Or for mercy plead,
Yet cruel is our blindness
Which does not see their need.
World-over, town or city,
God trusts us with this task:
To give our love and pity
To those who cannot ask
~Edgar A. Guest (1881-1959)

Can I write a poem, or is this thread limited to quality?

Yup, I know that. In fact, the last three ribs, I put hair lines in, they said, no more taping. However, sitting in my car, after the accident, waiting for a red light to change, I sneezed and thought I was going to die.

This was actually an Ode to the Rider, but then most people wouldn't have liked it.

I too sympathize, both fer da ribs and the masochistic devotion to creatutres who can hurt by merely playing.
Remind me to tell you about what happens when someone changes a pressure bandage where a vein was extracted after OH surgery and has to strain to get it off.
It s not a poem but it sure was cadenced.

ATT ALL !

There seems to be so much wonderful poems about horses. I would like to save them all and put them into a small (or maybe a rolleyes.gif large) booklet for printing.
So I would like you all to send me your poems (with author please) in an e-mail so I can save them and publish them, when there are enough....
Are you interessted ?

With lots of love

First Foal (Cathy Rochon)

First foal,
Wet and wobbly and new
No past to live up to,
Or to live down.
A clean slate,
Waiting to be written upon.
An empty canvas
To be painted with a portrait of years
So much a part of sire and dam
And yet, so different:
A free spirit.
Unique,
Always special
Because, no matter how many come after,
This one is,
And will always be
The first foal

A Prayer For Aseela
1991-1992

Look down upon your child, God
The one who can not speak
The one who is so faithful
Who is strong yet so weak.

She can not ask for mercy, Lord
She can not cry in tears
Her pain is very real, Lord
And her need is very clear.

Our souls were interlocked, God
I feel the pain she feels
I asked for your forgiveness
And I begged for you to heal.

She was my best friend, Lord
She listened when I cried
I looked into her soft brown eyes
And never found a lie.

She let me hug and kiss her
As she knew the end was near
Face as sweet as an Angel
She was with me only a year.

She always did her best for me
She would look, listen and try
Her love was unconditional
Oh, Dear God, Why?

In the end I had no choice, Lord
I had to do what was right
I hope she will forgive me
I still cry every night.

I will never forget her, God
She was special in every way
Tell her that I miss her
And tell her I will join her there someday.

Tell her to go to her mother, Lord
To enjoy the grass and sun
To run the race of her life
And tell her that she won
