I know this post is a bit of "Sunshine and Butterflies" from someone in the younger generation, but nevertheless I would love to share our greatest achievment to date in Arabian racing in Israel! In the next few weeks, myself and my boyfriend will be traveling to Delaware Park race track to race 3 of our racehorses! 2 are SEs and the third is undecided still but between 2 SEs and 1 SE sired. All are sired by our own Bariq Al Amal. This is the first time in Israel that horses are traveling to the US for racing, ever! And we hope this to be a great learning experience as well as our horses competing well. Here in Israel they are the best, but now we will be moving from a "small pond" to a "big sea" and can not wait! Having never been done, we don't know what to expect, but the great people at Delaware Park have offered us help every step along the way and we hope it will be an easy transition. Deby

He came in 4th. He was not far from 1st place.
If you go to equibase.com you can create a virtual stable of horses, trainers or you can look up races, entries, etc. They will send you a notice when they do an official work, enter a race and how they did on in the race. It is a lot of fun.
My SE filly ought to be getting ready for official works in a month or so.

I want to thank everyone who kept track of our boys and for all of the well wishes!! I have not posted for a while for a few reasons, one, I watched many mistakes happen with our horses, mainly them being put in races over thier heads and having to watch them loose- now the reason I waited to post was because I wanted to see these issuses resolved before I spoke about them. Everything with our boys has been resolved and we are looking forward to a much more sucessful season next year, as instead of us trying to train the horses, we will be working for 2 wonderful trainers who will be making all of the descions on them while we learn more. secondly, I have found out the truth about the race industry and how truely dirty of a business it is. Let me give you a quick example- steriods are illegal, doesn't mean trainers don't use them, they train on them, them take them off so that they don't show up in tests. In reality the steriod laws do nothing except not let the horses race on them. Sadly it is a joke. Thats only something illegal, the things that are legal are just out of this world. We were only able to win one race- with my love Balance- which does not sound like a huge accomplishment but believe me it is, he was the ONLY horse in the race not on Lasics or Bute- 2 very legal things that give the other horses huge advantages- bute, lets them not feel the aches and strains and lasics if nothing else can make a horse 25-30 lbs lights!!!! Balance not only won his race, but won it 10000% clean. There is talk about making the rules more like Europe, where nothing is allowed and everything is tested for, and I pray that happens. It would change the face of racing in America, and even more to our benefit with the SEs, it would change the face of breeding. If there is anyway that anyone knows of topush thislaw change then we need to! People would stop breeding these TB look alike arabians that sprint really fast but break as easily as TBs and go back to breeding the basics, a strong arabian horse that does not bleed and blow tendons left and right. If any one has any questions about these things feel free to ask me and if I do not know then I will contact one of our trainers (btw the reason we work with them is that they do not medicate for a one up and and some amazing horse people)

WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I like the comment on equibase- 'ran down the leader'!!!!!!!!!!!!! The "medication" issue was one I had huge problems with when I had my boys running out here . Could not find ONE SINGLE trainer here who would run without! I'm sorry, that 'well, everyone else does it' does NOT cut it! My farrier still has Tbs' & QHs' running, and yes, equipoise/winstrol (steroids) are still issues. And as far as Lasix goes, shoot, think for a minute. It's a diuretic. What athlete performs at their best when they are dehydrated??? Very frustrating.

Sandy, You just put in a nutshell the biggest problem with the medication situation- its either jump on bored or be left in the dust. We were extremely lucky that Balance on his own ability was able to do so well, but its not fair to those trying to play the game fair. I don't know if you are intersted in sending horses out here but the trainer we worked with as well as a few others (key word "few") do not medicate unless needed. If you are intersted I can send you thier information.

Sandy,
I know several trainers who do not use drugs on their race horses in Texas. One is consistently winning against the big tb trainers. My trainer has been told no drugs. I'm over there. I'm aware of what is going on with my horses. I like them to run clean if at possible. And equipose/winstrol is not on my list of needs for them.

Thanks Deby & Martha! The last horse I sent out came home in Feb. of '04, & just now can't afford it. But got the bug really bad from the few tries w/Sokaris. I have had a love of racing that goes back to when I was a little bitty girl, & used to watch the trotters at the old 1/2 mile oval at L.A. County Fair in Pomona! Even got to watch the '69 Belomont Stakes from the stands w/my mom & sister when Majestic Prince lost the only time in his career- & cried for weeks over it! Can sympathize with how tough it is to learn the ropes, but I do beleive it is still sooo much better than the show ring. No comparison- the the adrenaline rush when your own horse gets the lead right before the wire!

Dear Debbi
congrats, I am so very happy for you and your horse. I know what you are talking about and glad you can solve some problems. I noticed on the photo that your horse is standing on very high heels- front- making the hoof look like a club. Obviously he ran okay with it, but how do you feel about this? Racer usually have low heels, to take the pressure of the knees, etc. May be its the photo?
