OMG Oli, what a picture. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
I can just envision bedouin seeking shade from their trusted steed.

I'm in tears over all the wonderful pictures here.. I had almost forgotten how it used to be and how it should be. I also, regret not massing the millions (or even us thousands) and placing our ever Arabian loving behinds on the door step of AHA 20 years ago or better. Since I have poked my head back in 5 years ago and found still horrid situations in the show ring... I regret, I regret much.

Thank you so much Ray for starting this.. and I hope this thread continues long into the years of people posting how it used to be or how it is with their horses. and Pray AHA takes a look.

I find the people that abuse our beautiful creatures for the sake of a ribbon, damnation in hell.. for those that do not appreciate the minds of the creatures we see in these pictures a tragic loss to these sub-human beings.

Oh, what we could have been if it hadn't been for the greed of a few.
What a wonderful world it could be.

Horses like those on this thread have such a natural presence and fire it makes me wonder why these trainers think beating them until they are aggressive or scared stiff is necessary.  Don't their horses have this natural presence?   blink.gif

gbfahne.gif Pardon me for saying this but I think it's usually because the balls are on the stallions and not the handlers wink.gif

I am loving these photos. Jenny, I have always been in awe of your horses.
The ones that I posted were all horses trained by me. With respect and treats and lots of praise. So yes, I do it MY way, yesterday, today and into the future.

OK - I dug out some oldies - not Arabian horses, but it is a "halter show". biggrin.gif

At the Western Idaho Fair - circa 1983/84 (gosh, time flies!!) blink.gif

This is me (tall fella) in the mare lineup with May, one of my Suffolk/Belgium draft mares. My old friend, Henry Reimann is showing her sister, Dot, for me. Dot won Supreme Champion Mare in both 1983 and 1984.

This is me and my son showing daughters, Charm and Challis, of the above mares. smile.gif

Attached Image

This is me and my daughter in a team hitch class, young driver to drive. The team is a pure Suffolk stallion, Sir William of Little Deer Creek and the mare Dot, from above (she's throwing her head in this shot). wink.gif

And this is back home with the ribbons - my gorgeous wife (of 41 years this June) is holding them for the photo.

Nothing fancy, but a heck of a lot of fun - everybody helped each other out with stuff - lending tack and equipment - grooming - showing - cleaning up. Those were the days!

This is a great thread! I love all these pictures of the way things were and they way they should be today. I just wish the people who need to see this willl read and take note of the loving expressions on the faces of all.

I love Arabians, but Ray those pictures are gorgeous! What sweet looking mares! Nice to see you and your beautiful family! Yay on the 41 years! My husband and I will mark 35 this year.

True love and true temperament ... here is Imperial Falaah (Imperial Imdal x Imperial BTFawkia) ... one of my favorite shots together. Such a sweet, sweet mare who is totally adored by her Mom.

Well, okay. Here is my 15 year old stallion with me at the lead asking him to stand up squared in a pose meant to display his true conformation. My son is on the camera (missed the feet!) and though he is no professional photographer, I think he captured this guy pretty well:
Attached Image

No whip, no chin chain, no conditioning, no neck sweating . . . just pulled him out of his paddock with good ole' mom at the lead asking him for a nice squared up pose without stretching biggrin.gif Would love to let him show himself somewhere where being "au naturele" wouldn't be marked down - whiskers, hair over his eyes, no grease, no bridle path and winter fur to boot! cool.gif

Jenny and Ray and everyone, I LOVE your horse photos of happy horses and family companions. To me THAT is what the arabian is all about.
