my englich is VERY bad! sorry!
Dr. Radjai (Germany) bought Alaa from Erich Hagenlocher (USA) and he lived by Dr. Radjai till he died.

@ guest_gast: Alaa Ibn Tuhotmos has nothing to do with Erich Hagenlocher. His Tuhotmos son is EH Ibn Tuhotmos (Tuhotmos x EH Bahiga) and still at his stud.

Here is Alaa Ibn Tuhotmos (Tuhotmos x Bint Bint Wedad by Kaisoon)

The recorded breeder of Alaa should read as Ann or Prof. Rick Heber/USA. Alaa's dam Bint Bint Wedad was bred and owned by Heiner Buschfort/Germany and was on lease for several years to the US to be bred to Tuhotmos and Ansata Omar Halim. As an mature horse Alaa came to Gerrmany to Dr. Radjai and was presented at several shows. In the show catalogues his breeder was given as Heiner Buschfort at the first time but he refused to take that "honour". He never was a friend of this stallion's obvious faults and didn't want to be regognized as his breeder. Interesting fact is that the two fullsisters of Alaa were far better in conformation and as beautful in the head as he.

Thanks a million.

Here is another headshot of Alaa Ibn Tuhotmos

Holger Heck described him as follows: "Weak in the back, too long in the back, weak in the croup, weak in the front legs."

Thank you Dennis for your quick answer!
Danke für das Bild, Klaus!

A really encouraging comment wink.gif

Every horses has its good and bad sides. To say something good about him Alaa Ibn Tuhotmos showed floating movement and had a very good neck and a fine throatlatch and a beautifully refined head.

Such a lovely stallion! Beautifully refined head and neck.

You're right--all horses have faults. I'm sure if he was carefully bred to the right mares, the offspring would be lovely!

I agree in part. Every horse has faults but sometimes faults are too hard to ignore and it would be better to geld a stallion. It's not a rule that the foals overcome the faults of their sires. And the faults are "in" the foals then, it's in their genes, it's not "gone" even when the fault is not to see in the first place. Wait another generation and chances are the faults come out again. A stallion with such big faults should not make a breeding stallion even with his lovely head and neck. My personal opinion.

I know this is a very old Topic, but I just wanted to say that no matter how some people talk about him, I loved this Stallion.
He was not easy to handle, but had Character and knew the character of people around him too.
I'm very grateful that I could be with him when he had to be put down because of a stupid and unnecessary accident.
It seemed to me that a lot of things in his life had gone not the right way and regret to this day that I was not able to afford to buy him from Dr. Radjai. His life would have certainly ended different!
I have to this day a framed pictures of him with a strand of his tail and mourn his loss.

Shahnaz Hello, welcome to the forum.
I have never seen this stallion, but I know there are descendants in my area.
A Mr. Stadler also had descendants from him.

Hello Teymur!

Mr. Stadler had quite a few horses at Dr. Radjai's farm.
He owned my mare's dam Shergala too as far as I remember.
I got some photo's of Alaa, but first have to scan the negatives before I can post some.

He had considered a couple of horses on Ramsberg.
I live in the city where is this stud.
Bint Hasanat and her daughter Farah were beautiful mares.

This is our Alaa Ibn Tuhotmos daughter Ameera.

She is most definately not weak in the back and croup but opposite.
A wonderful Abbayan mare with nice neck, body, legs and great movements and an encredibly mild nature.
We cherrish her a lot and in my opnion she is the best mare we have.

She likes to take my girls on small trips on her back, thou she never was ridden untill we got her 3 years ago. She is 15 years old now. A genuine pearl! smile.gif

Best Regards Anne

Teymur, Dr. Radjai's stud farm was near Karlsruhe, but he closed down a few years back and sold all horses.
I remember Bint Hasanat. Probably have some pictures of her too.
I made so many photo's just sitting in the pasture with the horses, that I can't even remember who is who on them anymore...

Anne I'm happy that you have a daughter of Alaa and love her!
I did breed one of his probably last foals that I had to give back to Dr. Radjai as part of the deal. She was sold to Ulrike Doehl from Denmark who really loved her too. Unfortunately she had to be put down shortly before her 4th birthday and giving birth to her first own foal. It was so hard for me to hear that!
I wish I would have a son or daughter from Alaa. He was supposed to be the sire of my stud, but had his accident before I could breed my mare with him and so I choose his son Ddoll-Ddoll.
Shahab often reminds me of Alaa, even he has a much more masculine neck and less attitude that Alaa certainly had..., but no matter what others say bad about him I loved this guy and I'm very happy that others have his get and love them too!
