HELLO, EVERYONE:

Just found this site on SE horses.

I'm looking for information concerning Alcibiades and the Rafter G breeding program that Norton and Millie Grow of Prosser, Wa. had for sooo many years as I have the YOUNGEST son of Alcibiades out of his last foal crop: RA JAYSHUN who is 14 years old this year (2003).

I would very much appreciate any and allinformation on this subject.

A small piece of information and at least a photo of Alcibiaes is contained in the article of his sire Rashad Ibn Nazeer in the international section of this site. It is called "The Nazeer Sons in America - Part 1".

My good friend Jan Ferraro, in Priest River, Idaho has a good deal of this blood as much of her stock came directly from the Pritzlaff Ranch. The 1973 Aliciades son, Blue Boy, died in her loving care a couple of years ago in his late twenties. Jane Bohn, Ravenwood Arabians in Montana stood the Alcibiades son RG Al Mone for many years and has a number of his sons and daughters. The three Alcibiades daughters Khartahl Mahrousa (pictured below), Khartahl Maaroufa and Khartahl Malika are alive and well too!

Thanks, Pat for your information. Much appreciated.

I have been very good friends with Ravenwood Ranch for quite a few years now. Was able to see RG Al Mone in person about 15 years ago. I have Jane's 2002 video with some footage of Mone. A GORGEOUS ANIMAL. smile.gif

P.S. I also have Alcibiades last daughter, RG Khala whom I hope to mate with her 1/2 brother come spring.

An Al Mone daughter that I hope to be acquiring had a gorgeous bay filly by RA Jayshun that past spring. That mating I also help to repeat.

Any further info on Alcibiades would be very much appreciated. biggrin.gif

Hi Billy W

I saw you searching for information on your Pritzlaff blood on other sites Alcibiades.
Please look on Rancho San Iqnacio it has over twenty pages with over three hundred current post and is loaded with pictures, it deals with all of the Pritzlaff horses of RSI.
By the way we have Alcibiades in many of our horses. wink.gif

Thank You Robert....

I will have a look!! Im really interested due to the info that I heard that the Rashad line was very athletic...my guy is 75% Ansata breeding with an outcross to the Pritzlaff horse Alcibiades..as I am a dressage enthusist Im hoping for that line to come forth in athletics for my Mahfouz smile.gif

Thanks Billy

My stallion, Rahima, is an Imdal son who has a double on Rashad Ibn Nazeer on the bottom. I think his best foal was out of a half Babson half Pritzlaff mare.
KarenSh
I was just talking about this stallion with a friend a few weeks ago.
There was a stallion imported by David Kemp called RG Perseus, Unfortunately i think he died early leaving only a few progeny and no straight egyptians

S 6458 R.G. PERSEUS (IMP USA) dam 11650 WANISA RSI (140816 AHR)

From everyone who had seen this stallion absolutely loved him, I was never lucky enough to know of him nor have i seen photos.

Other relatives are Sars Image, RAvenwood Gabbara, and the beautiful Flabys Sar Monisa.

I have just purchased a Perseus daughter from Taani Bint Naadirah (Mustafa by Hadban Enzahi/Naadirah by Aswan). Am very excited about this mare...just got to decide who to breed her to!

Dear DKG,
Is that Taani's Joy?
she is a lovely little mare that i saw a few years ago. I hope you get many foals from her as her lines are gorgeous.

Hi Karen

Yes, it is Taani's Joy...she is a lovely little mare, I hope it all goes well. SO far on the list of potential sires we have Maali Ibn Maaza, Om EL Shariekh and perhaps BGA Naadir, to bring back the Naadirah/Sankt Georg link. Will see how she goes.

Her only foal so far (by Mustafa by Hadbana Enzahi) looks to be a good horse, so I hope to get something like him.

Here's Alcibiades, age 3 at RSI
Ralph
Here's a very pretty Alcibiades daughter:

KHARTEL MALIKA (Alcibiades x MFA Maariia Isis)

Which is an interesting pedigree, when you stop and consider that this mare has a tail female Maaroufa line and The Egyptian Prince, which brings in more Shaloul, through the Babson lines and through Moniet El Nefous, which means that this pretty little mare has a GIANT sized helping of Ibn Rabdan blood, which makes her ideal for crossing with an intense Mansour horse, that suits her phenoptypically.

Ralph
This is Norton Grow (Rafter G) and Alcibiades
Ralph
smile.gif I remember this picture of Alcibiades, when he appeared in the magazines of his time
Ralph
This is an Alcibiades son, his name is RG Sequoia and besides being a pretty fancy looking and good moving stallion, I think his pedigree is also interesting as his mother, is by Ansata El Salim, who is a Halima-Babson cross and out of Faara, who is Babson on top and Bint El Bataa on the bottom. So, there's a nice blending of Ibn Rabdan blood throughout the pedigree and then "anchored" on the bottom with more Mansour.
Ralph
This is RG Sherifa, the dam of the above stallion

Remember, she is by Ansata El Salim (*Ansata Ibn Halima x Maarqada[BABSON]) and out of Faara (Faarad [Babson]x *Bint El Bataa)
Ralph
So then, counter the above Alcibiades son, RG Sequoia with this next Alcibiades son, RG Al Mone

This is where pedigrees get a little interesting, as the slightest change can have a dramatic impact

RG Al Mone is out of a mare named RG Anemone. She is by El Hadiyi (*Ansata Ibn Halima x *Sammara [*Morafic x Sameera]) and her dam is Faara, the dam of RG Sherifa, who produced the above stallion. The Babson influence for Al Mone is less than for RG Sequoia. So that means less Ibn Rabdan blood but a lot of Mansour, as Nazeer appears three times in the pedigree of RG Anemone.

Just thinking about some stuff today. Hope it causes the same effect in you all. smile.gif
Ralph
This is my favorite photo of RG Al Mone, as he appeared in the magazines of his time
Ralph
Here's a little bit of breed history for you all. This is Norton (cowboy hat) and Millie Grow, who were responsible for creating Rafter G and the many horses that made this program famous. The man on the right is Harold Jeans, also a famous name in history. smile.gif
Ralph
And finally, this is the mare Faara, who is found at the bottom of both horses (RG Sequoia and RG Al Mone) pedigree. Again, she is by Faarad, a Babson horse and out of *Bint El Bataa. smile.gif

Thanks Ralph for all the wonderful photos. Had never seen the one of Richard on Alcibiades.
Here is the Alcibiades son Al Sarason RSI x RSI Sara (*Rashad X *Bint Dahma) @ 20yrs. biggrin.gif
MAXHOPEMIME
Does any one have photos of RSI Sara?
Thanks
Clothilde
Chiron,
I already see this picture but she always remind me that this horse is a wonderful mover, I love Alcibiades and that's really great to see more offsprings from him, always the same quality.

Hello,
RSI Sara was the dam of my mare Sarita RSI and a full sister to my stallion Radahm RSI, although RSI Sara was at Norton and Millie Grow along with Alcibiades, perhaps you may find more photos on the RSI site that is on this forum. biggrin.gif
I saw a picture of RSI Sara in one of the old Arabian magazines with a foal standing in a pasture at Rafter G ranch.
Robert,

Thanks Robert, I'll look her up. Can you describe Sarita RSI for me or post a picture if you have one?
I am just the biggest fan of Farida and have a mare with several crosses to her on the distaff side and I'am seriously thinking of finding a Stalion with the same.

Thanks again
Chris

Hi MAXHOPEMIME,

Sarita RSI was a very good size bay mare with no white, with good conformation and nice movement.
She was a great producer, each and everyone of her foals were outstanding.
If you wish you can E-mail my daughter Kelly, she has
all the photos and info on our horses.

Ralph,

Just in the name of correctness and accuracy - for you and for everyone else who may be reading this thread in the forum - I noticed that a number of times you have referred to the Babson-Pritzlaff mare by Faarad (Faaris x Fadba) and out of *Bint El Bataa as being "Faara"; including in the paragraph with the photograph of her which you were so kind to post. Actually, "Faara" was a 1954 bay Straight Babson Old Egyptian mare, AHRA #9418, sired by the beautiful bay Babson stallion Faddan (*Fadl x *Bint Saada) and out of the unforgetable bay Babson mare Fa Aana (*Fadl x his own DOUBLE-GRANDDAUGHTER Aana (Fay-El-Dine x Fa Saana)!!!) FAARA's only-ever foal was the stunning mare Faarecho, sired by the straight Egyptian stallion Sirecho (*Nasr x *Exochorda) - who has recently been discussed in the "*Nasr" thread.

The Babson-Pritzlaff mare is in fact spelled "Faaraa", with the extra "a" on the end, and may well have been registered that way since there was already the Straight Babson mare Faara with only the one "a" following the "r". FAARAA, AHRA #32559, was a 1965 chestnut mare, and had a number of straight Egyptian foals during her lifetime.

Don't mean to be "nit picking", but so many people read something on the Internet and take it as "gospel" and without question, that providing the absolute correct information (especially where there is no equally-correct alternative) can save somebody a long time of wasted and fruitless research if they have been starting from point of using inaccurate data (such as a misspelled name; and particularly when there exists another animal whose name actually IS the same as the misspelling!). Best wishes, and thanks again for all of the interesting photos and posts which you provide to this forum.

Good luck David with your breeding program, she is a sweet mare so you should get very good foals from her!
