I saw them only in Egypt. I had a chance to get friends of the bedouins and ride this horses.
What is amazing is that when this horses hear this kind of special music, they dance in the box as
well. There was a very old man by the pyramids well know for this training. I'm wondering if is still there.
I'm interested as well to know if there are this kind of trainer in Europe.

Bye,

Is it true that very cruel methods are being used to teach the horses?
I have heard that they they are in panic when "dancing" and that it is not
very nice looking at these presentations... unsure.gif

I know somewhere I have some links bookmarked. Some horses have been taught to dance, but many it was bred into them. I have a "dancing" arabian. He is heavily desert bred on his dam's side. I learned of it while I was getting ready to ride him in a parade & as soon as the marching band started up & he heard the piccolo, he bagan to dance. I had no control over him, but he was completely safe. It was absolutely breath taking. He also does it to Ravi Shankar music. He is especially fond of the piccolo or sitar. I did not realize what a treasure I had, Arabian Nights was interested in us joining them after I was out of school. I never did go there w/ him. He's also a great liberty horse as you can imagine. Now 26 years old, although he looks & acts 6, he can still dance away. He is such a fun horse. He was very easy to teach how to rear, bow & shake hands.

Yes, as you can see, he's quite the entertainer.

Hello Dina,

How are you? I would love to purchase a DVD or video of a dancing horse display. Do you have any idea where I could get hold of one?

How are your horses going? Hope all is well in Cairo & that it's not too hot.

All the best............Debbie.

Hi Debbie, Hope you are doing well. I do not know of any DVD's or Video's of dancing horses, I have also withdrawn my stallion from the training quite sometime ago because of the cruelty and abuse of the trainers that they use in an advanced stage. Thankfully we did not reach that stage but when me and my husband saw what was going on we decided that it was just enough. Hope to see you in November at the EAO show.

Regards,
Dina
P.S the weather in Cairo is inrcedibly hot cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

Hello Dina,

I am sorry to hear that your horse was trained by cruel methods. I had hoped that this wasn't happening any more. Is he ok now that you have stopped the training? Has he any problems afterwards? I hope not.

At this point in time I would say that I won't be able to make it over in November. It's a shame but will make the trip another time.....Inshallah!

I had heard that you were have regular temps of 46 or 47c daily. I know how hard that it to tolerate & I am sympathetic!! here we have had quite a cold winter, but with low rain fall....again, makes it year 8. Don't know how much longer we can go on like this as across the country water storages are very low, although our own dam isn't too bad at this time.

Stay out of the heat but send some warm rays my way!! See you next time I'm in Cairo...............Debbie.

smile.gif smile.gif Dear Serina,Dina ,Guest And Manu
When I read this thread I did not want to get involved ,but A dear friend of mine urged me to share my knowledge about Arabian Dancing horses,as she witnessed me train my Arabian horse,Don Diablo to dance to a point that He was put on local TV stations many times .And all my friends who were at the EE in june and watched a tape of my dancing horse got convinced that it is a very delicate art that not many trainers can get into it unless they know and have studied under the masters of this art ..
Dina ,I am glad that you pulled your stallion from training ,abusing an Arabian to teach him how to dance is a sign of ignorance from the said trainer ..During my six month of training my horse, the wip was only used on the ground as a rythm to the music so the horse can follow its movement ..
A good dancing horse if trained well could dance with a rider on his back or if the rider is on his side motionning the wip, taping the ground with it so the horse will move accordingly...
Please bare in mind that not every Arabian can be a dancing horse ...It takes a lot of suppleness and agility from the horse and that is bred in them ..
In Syria ,Jordan AND Egypt special horses are bred to be a dancing horse and that all what they are used for .....in special national occasions or mostly in wedding ..
Manu I know the gentelman near the pyramid who is an excellent trainer because his dad before him trained Arabian Dancing horses ..I was with him last August and we Talked a lot about this art ..
I learned the art of training Arabian dancing horses from an old Master in the town of HAMA in Syria and this man could work miracles with his gentelness and caring ..He once told me if you ever Raise your voice in anger you will Set your Arabian in training 3 month back ..Be Patient and know how to comunicate and your pupil will do anything to polease you ...And believe me it is true ..
I am trying my best after my horses death last october to find a young horse so i could teach him the art of dancing ...
No one should try this type of schooling unless they have previous knowledge of how to train them properly ...
Any one interested with more info. they can e/Mail me at Al Moussami web site and I will be glad to be of help to Anyone ..

Mine was never trained by anyone to dance. The previous owner & breeder never knew he could do this. He does it completely on his own to the right music.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Dear Rousseau Ridge
If your horse move and sway to music this is your first sign that you have a potential Arabian Dancing Horse..All what we add to the training is how to move to the motion of your seat according to the tempo of the music you are playing ..When your seat shift to the left your horse will lift his left hind and right fore ,and the oposite is correct to the right side ..the tempo of your seat dictate the lift and elevation of the horses legs while he is standing in one spot or moving forward depending on your demands all this must be executed under the utmost collection were the horse'head carriage is compltly vertical to the ground...
When my horse was three years old and my daughter was grooming him in the barn ,I always liked to play Arabian music in the barn ,my daughter one day came running to the house screaming that something is wrong with DEE(short for DON DIABLO),when i asked her what was wrong she said DEE is swaying and stomping the ground with his feet ..When i got to the barn the music was playing strong and DEE was moving to the rythm suddenly I stoped the tape recorder and DEE stopped ,I played again and here he went this is when I knew that the horse could be trained to be A Dancing horse ...
Please remember that the horse only hear and move to the DRUM beat of the Song ,this is why it is important to select the proper song with the proper beat ..
Well now I shared with you and the readers some of the secret training of the "DANCING HORSES"
