I was the person who resurrected this discussion.
this mare, Ghazala, was bred in many interesting combinations. I think the first breeding showed so much potential and a very good mind for Dr. Nagel, as she was bred to Zohair, an Alaa El Din son. That cross produced Yasmeen. After Zohair, Ghazala was bred to Madkour I, and produced Ayda, who like Yasmeen, was sold to someone else. No chance to influence Katharinenhof, from this progeny.
Then, came the exciting period of time at Katharinenhof
*JAMILL
And came the horses from this match, named Afifa, Alifa, Aziz, and Amrulla. I don't believe that Afifa has produced a foal and Alifa, like Yasmeen and Ayda was sold. However, the mare Amrulla has a good reocrd of progeny, as crossed with the stallion Salaa El Din. Think of the Al Rayyan horses, the late Safir and his son Ashhal Al Rayyan.
the Ansata Halim Shah son, Assad was the next mate for Ghazala, to produce Farida. Exciting cross, I have to say, as it intensified the Bukra blood.
Then came the great, Salaa El Dine and the stallion Adnan, who is a goosebumps producing copy of Ghazala's sire, Ghazal and also, the mare Nawal.
It's interesting to take a detour, right about here, and consider the breeding for the above named mare, Farida, who was Ghazala's foal by Assad. She was bred to Adnan, her half-brother (Salaa El Dine x Ghazala).
Ghazala's last breeding was to Nejdy, to produce the stallion Ibn Nejdy, who produced the much admired NK Hafid Jamil.
For me, it's extremely interesting to study the breeding patterns of this mare, Ghazala and the intense concentration of Alaa El Din and Bukra, two foundation Egyptian horses that are my personal favorites.
How is it for you, to think about this mare, Ghazala, and the lasting (and growing) legacy that she is providing for the SE breeder. In the future, when we discuss families of great merit, which Ghazala family will have the most impact on our community?
