I'm gonna be fired!!! I spend entirely too much time running amok on the internet. I found a wonderful site with horse quotations. Thought I'd share this one on behalf of our beloved horses.
For ALL trainers, riders, horsekeepers and horse-lovers--this one is from a true master:
Whenever difficulties appear, the rider must ask himself: does the horse not want to execute my demands, does he not understand what I want, or is he physically unable to carry them out? The rider's conscience must find the answer.

Susan,
Great topic!
Someone said:
"Something about the outside of a horse, that is good for the inside of a man."

A very interesting topic!
I've heard once:
-------->" Horses are mirrors with hair on it. When you look in their eyes, you
see a reflection of yourself. "

Hey Susan

What a great topic. Not too long ago, Cynthia Culbertson posted this quote:
QUOTE
"You have only to climb on his back and wish yourself anywhere in the world – and no matter how far the distance, in a flash of time too short to count, you will find yourself there…”
I love it!

My favourite Arabian horse quote i read and remembered when I was about 14. I stayed in the house of a person I greatly respect as a horse man, a first real influence in my live: Mr. Ley Dorsers, the father of one of Europes finest trainers - handlers Erik Dorsers.
The quote is in Dutch and nice written on a plate against the wall, it go's: Mensen Met Paarden Hebben Hemel Op Aarde Maar Komen Ze Te Sterven Valt Er Niets Te Erven!!
Wich means as much as: Poeple with horses have heaven on earth but if they come to die their is nothing left behind. (I don't know how to translate exactly, basically their is nothing financially left for the children or those who are left behind!)
I think in most cases thats true, few exceptions maybe!

Oliver, and here the opposite:
Das Glück dieser Erde liegt auf dem Rücken der Pferde
- ich glaube, die Pferde können es ganz gut ohne uns - aber ich glaube, wir nicht ohne sie - gilt jedenfalls für mich
"The happyness on earth is on a horseback"
But my favorite is said before: The horse is the mirror of his handler/rider.

The last two lines are my favorite...
The Hooves of the Horses
The hooves of the horses - O' Witching and Sweet.
is the music earth steals from the iron-shod feet;
No whisper of lover, no trilling of bird,
Can stir me as hoofs of the horses have stirred.
They spurn disappointment and trample dispair,
and drown with their drum beats the challenge of care,
With scarlet and silk for their banners above,
they are swifter than Fortune and sweeter than love.
On the wings of the morning they gather and fly,
In the hush of the night-time I hear them go by -
The horses of memory thundering through
With flashing white fetlocks all wet with the dew.
When you lay me to slumber no spot you can choose,
but will ring to the rhythm of galloping shoes,
and under the daisies no grave be so deep
but the hooves of the horses shall sound in my sleep.

Good Morning!
How about some quotes with humor:
I'm sure you all can relate to this one!!!
Proper scientific name for horses: Equis keepus brokeus.
Horses have very good manners - my horse will even stop before the fence and let me go over first.
Seen on a bumper sticker:
If I didn't own a horse, this would be a Ferrari!
And, beautiful quotes:
The Breath of Paradise is that which blows between the ears of a horse.
- Arabic Quotation
After God had fulfilled his word, he addressed the newly created mare as follows: “I have made thee without an equal: the goods of this world shall be placed between thy eyes; everywhere I will make thee happy and preferred above all beasts of the field, for tenderness shall everywhere be in the heart of the master; good alike for the chase and retreat, thou shalt fly though wingless . . .”
- From the Koran
And a reply to those who say, "do you think about anything else but..horses?"
Answer:
How can you expect me to get horses out of my head, when thy're in my heart?
C'mon folks....let's here more from you?

Horses give us the wings we lack
I don't care who tells me to, I'm not going to die until someone proves to me that there are hosres in Heaven.
Give a horse what he needs and he will give you his heart in return
You'll never know how much you love to be on a horse... until you fall off!

Hi
I love this old Arab proverb;-
'My treasures do not clink together, or glitter. They gleam in the sun and neigh in the night'
It basically sums me up completely - I don't have two pennies to rub together, but I do have three beautiful Arabian mares - they are my riches!

Chief Seattle,s Testimony..1854} What is man without the beasts? If the beasts were gone, man would die from a great lonliness of spirit....For whatever happens to the beasts soon happens to man....All things are connected.........THIS WE KNOW.....The earth does not belong to man...Man belongs to the earth.......THIS WE KNOW...Like the blood which unites one family...All things are connected....Whatever befalls the earth...Befalls the sons of the earth...........MAN DID NOT WEAVE THE WEB OF LIFE...He is merely a strand in it....WHATEVER HE DOES TO THE WEB,,,,he does to himself....................part of chief seattles testimony 1854.

Hi, here are my two favourites:
Good horses are few, like good friends,
Though they appear many to the inexperienced eye
Author unknown
When I am an Old Horsewoman.
When I am an old Horsewoman I shall wear turquoise and diamonds
And a straw hat that doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my social security on white wine and carrots,
And sit in my alley-way of my barn
And listen to my horses breathe.
I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night
And ride the old bay gelding
Across the moonstruck meadow
If my old bones will allow.
And when people come to call, I will smile and nod
As I walk past the gardens to the barn and show instead the flowers
growing inside stalls fresh-lined with straw.
I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair as if it were a jewel.
And I will be an embarrassment to all
Who will not yet have found the peace in being free to have a horse as a best friend,
A friend who waits at midnight hour
With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes,
For the kind of woman I will be
When I am old.

Here are a few I found that I really liked:
A Dog looks up to a man, a cat looks down on a man, but a patient horse looks a man in the eye and sees him as an equal.
A dog may be man's best friend, but the horse wrote history
Horses are the dolphins of the plains, the spirits of the wind; yet we sit astride them for the sake of being well-groomed, whereas they could have all the desire in the world to bolt, but instead, they adjust their speed and grace, only to please us, never to displease.
- Lauren Salerno (This is my favorite

)
Nothing is more sacred as the bond between a horse and a rider. No other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on, because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, and the very existence dies also.
- Stephanie M Thorn
