Full Version: Cry For Help By Known Breeder - Spam?

Dear friends, today I received a cry for help from a well--known breeder from Egypt who allegedly got stuck in the UK because all his money had been stolen. Now I'd always help this person as much as I could, but this has somehow an untrue ring to it. Very funny that a specific, high amount of money should be transferred, but without indicating how. And I doubt that nobody of the SE-community in England would not help him to get home. And the message indicated two new email-addresses, saying not to use the old one anymore. i don't trust this.
So hence my question: has anybody else received this or a similar message or is this person the victim of a phishing operation? If the latter, beware!

I too, received this email. It is a scam. I have contacted another friend in Cairo, who will contact the person mentioned & let him know of the scam. His email account has been hacked.

Kind regards..............Debbie

Hi Bteriann,
I have also recieved this e-mail and I agree that it is a scam. I have tried to phone the breeder but can't get through to the stud at present. I would also help him if he needed it, as would all who know this person. I have sent an e-mail to him on his old e-mail address to let him know what is happening. I think he may have had his phone stolen, because we tried to phone him on his mobile and got the message that it had been disconnected.

Cheers

Dear Nasr,
Thanks for posting to let us know. What a terrible thing to happen to you. There are truely some horrible people in the world. I hope you will have a good time judging the show. Will talk soon.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON INTERNET SCAM. THEY HAVE BEEN CIRCULATING FOR SOME TIME NOW. ANY SUCH EMAIL FROM ANYONE, WHETHER YOU KNOW THEM OR NOT, IS ALWAYS FRAUDULENT.

I too got this email and knew at once it was a scam. I believe Christie Metz had something similar happen to her too. It's disgusting.
