Michael Ponnath of Germany is proud
to announce the arrival of the stallion
Ansata Sokar (Imperial Madheen
x Ansata Samantha by Ansata Ibn Halima) at his farm.
"We are very happy with him," Michael says.

To the best of our knowledge Ansata Sokar
is the only son of the late great Imperial Madheen
in Europe. Sokar's dam was no other than
"the girl named Sam", the wonderful chestnut
mare Ansata Samantha who founded a dynasty of her own.

"The big red horse", as Ansata Sokar was named by his
friends and admirers in the US, comes with a reputation
as a sire of foals with bold movement, big, expressive eyes,
and excellent topline.

He now begins to learn German. But to insure he feels
not alone in Germany, Michael Ponnath bought three lovely
American beauties for his harem (a daughter of Bint Deenaa,
a daughter of Magidaa, and a daughter of Imperial Madheen).
As soon as they are checked in foal they will leave the US
to join Sokar at his new home.

Congratulations to Michael Ponnath.

Hi Oliver...I saw this last week, on the Ansata website and was surprised. I wish his new owners congratulations and I hope that he helps them realize all of their dreams.

Das sind ja interessante Neuigkeiten. Ich kenne Sokar leider nur von Videoaufnahmen einen Freundes aber die machen mehr als neugierig. Stimmt es aber, dass er auf einem Auge erblindet ist?

He is a wonderful horse with one of the best hindquarters around. A lot of power in it. His topline is extremely good. He has somewhat a thick neck, but still a nice one. I saw some nice offspring of him last October and also Bint Sokar in 2002, she is now in Italy. Yes he is blind (almost) in one eye because of an accident, interesting is that his mother also was blind at one eye because of an accident, so he truely is his mother's son!

Auf jeden Fall ein wirklich toller Neuzugung und ich bin gespannt ihn auf der Hengstchau zu sehen.

What his size? Is he short or longbacked? Any full bodyshots?? (strangely that's the only picture I have ever seen from him)
DennisGuest
Size? This isn't easy to say, he looks very tall when you are standing near to him. I would say at least approx. 1,54 cm. His back is a bit long but looks very strong and his rear-end is nothing but powerful which enables him to use his hocks really well. There was a body shot of him at the Ansata page but it's gone now.

Here some more pictures from Sokar..
And one daughter from him...

I like this one!

I think the problem is he isn't half as good-looking on photos as in the flesh. You ahve to see him to appreciate him. Glad to hear he is in Germany now. He can contribute a lot imo: colour, motion, topline, powerful rearend, high tail carriage, poppy eyes.

Welche Hengstschau meinst du denn?

Bei der Zentralen Hengsteintragung muss er ja vorgestellt werden, vielleicht meinte Susi das.

Danke Hanne für die Bilder.

Tolle Bilder!

Is he a roan? Very pretty!
How long does he stay in Europe for?
Babs
He is owned by the Ponnath Stud now and hopefully will stay in Germany forever! smile.gif

How exciting to hear one of the really good ones is allowed to come to good old Europe and will not go to the Middle East! I do hope the breeders will make good use of him.

Ansata Bint Sokar was second in his class at a show in Italy some weeks ago.

Dear all,

... owning an Imp. Madheen-grand-daughter I'm very excited about Sokar coming to Germany offering the only direct possibility of line-breeding to his outstanding sire. Looking through the "Golden Bible" I found that Sokar wasn't used much at Ansata. Does anybody know why? What about his offspring? Did he coin them?

Any comment appreciated! rolleyes.gif

At the Ansata open house, Judith showed more than one example of Sokar bred to Moniet blood, "fixing" the croup. He has extreme tail carriage and long hips. One thing I didn't like so much was a little bow leggedness at the rear.

Very nice pictures of this good-looking stallion.
He's a valuable addition to Michael's stallion roster.

This is a very old post but I stumbled onto it by accident. Just wanted to say that I'm excited to have some of this bloodline left in the US. I own this little guy (he's actually not little) who will be up and coming in the show ring. He is a Ansata Sokar grandson. He's not quite 2 yet. I bought him a couple months ago and he will be standing for stud this year to a very limited number of mares and I'll be going full forward with him next year. I'm hoping to have him in the show ring this summer. His name is KRH Shakar. Thanks for letting me share.

Hi Anglenn,
You are very forunate to have some of this special blood of Ansata Sokar, son of Imperial Madeen the legend. biggrin.gif
Your Shakar is a nice representation of this line, Shakar looks very handsome for his young age. biggrin.gif
Kelly and I had the opportunity to have Ansata Sokar shown to us when we were guest of Judi and Don at Ansata Stud. The first part of his conformaion that grabbed my attention was Ansata Sokars very level top line, and this seems to be a strong point in your Shakar. wink.gif
Welcome, and good luck in the show ring wink.gif

What a beautiful mare and I just love her pedigree. Many years ago, I remember seeing Ansata Sokar at the EE in the U.S. He was spectacular and so full of himself, I was sad to see him exported.

Thank you Robert. I'm really excited about him and can't wait to see how far he can go. He's got a very willing attitude and very smart. He picks up on things so quickly and remembers.

That Ansata Bint Sokar is very pretty as well. Nice to see other get from Sokar.
Cheryl L
That is one fine looking colt you have Anglenn. I love his bloodlines, he has a lot of athletic potential in the background. Are you taking him to the EE someday? Showing is a lot of fun and the EE is something very special, unlike any other show I have been to.
Cheryl

Thank you. I would love to go to EE someday but I'll have to save up for that one. biggrin.gif The woman I bought him from said 'well, if all else fails, put him in to racing" biggrin.gif She believes he could do well in that as well. I really need to get out and about back in the Arabian show world, as I have been out of it for quite some time. I'm sure tons has changed over the years.
Cheryl L
You got him from Holly. He is race bred as well. He also has the conformation for a nice halter/performance horse. You have to keep us updated on how he matures and does. Have you ever been to the EE as a spectator? If not I highly recommend it. Not quite so expensive that way and if you wanted an inexpensive hotel just minutes from the park, just let me know. It is clean and a mom and pop owned place, no pets allowed though.
Cheryl

Yes, I did get him from Holly. I totally admire her and her opinion. She's so knowledgeable and she has a great group of horses. This is my second purchase from her. I also have a gelding from her (KRH Kaszmir).
