Hello Oliver and Aleksi,
Will you be attending in Louisville? It would be great to meet you both in person.
By the way....Best of Luck everyone!!!!Hope everyone has a splendid show .
Debbie
PS. Can anyone shed some insight as to the dress for the 60's banquet. Even though the theme is the sixties, I always see everyone dressed in their finest. I would hate to show up with my bell bottoms and peace shirt to find that I belong at a garage sale instead of a banquet.

Dear Trinity,
The dress for the Gala has always been at least "cocktail party" formal--sometimes even more so. I think the bell bottoms would have to be silk with a tapestry Nehru jacket!

Hello Allison,
Thanks so much for the heads up. Do you or anyone have any advice as to putting this look together.

Since the 60's was an "anything goes" era you have a lot of leeway in putting together an outfit while maintaining a degree of formality. I'm going to the dinner and dance too and have been researching what "look" I wish to put together. It's been loads of fun! I love the chance to try something new.
Here's a website that will give you some ideas. They are an online vintage clothing store that specializes in clothing from the 40's through to the 80's.

Cheers!

I talked with Martha Lucas this weekend and she said that they were seriously encouraging everyone to choose whatever style from the 60s that they remembered ( or for those who weren't there, what they have found interesting in retrospectives), including bell-bottom jeans, halter tops, mini-skirts with go-go boots and granny dresses. This is, I think, an attempt to not be so stuffy and to invite more people to come and enjoy themselves. For those of us who lived through the 60s and help define the styles, there was nothing predictable or uptight about the clothes. We wore flowers in our hair and left the bras at home. Unless you were Jackie O, whose elegant style also informed that decade, formal wear simply wasn't in your horizon. I plan to use this as an opportunity to relive those glorious days when the Beatles revolutionized music, the Vietnam war taught us all too soon how short and sweet life should be, and the women of this country decided that they were more than just wives and mothers. It was an exciting time to be coming of age, and who can stop us from being ourselves now? Judy Wyles

Bad news for the Texas folks - apparently the borders are closed due to some "disease" and they may not beable to come to the Event. Has anyone else heard about this?

I read the same thing on another forum - I can't imagine that all the wonderful competitors from Texas would be unable to attend... Here's a link to more info...
Texas Banned at the Event??Hoping this doesn't last long,
