Dear Annalise
I am so sorry to hear this. How did this filly got stolen? Did it's mother not protect her, dont you have dogs to do the same, I cant believe what I am reading. My mares would have killed an intruder, so would my dogs, so to speak- by at least raising a tremendous
fuss. And I would helped all of them. (Anny with a gun ) ha!.
I pray that your filly will be found and is okay.

Halypa@jumpy.itDear Hansi,
the mare and the filly weren't at my home ! : last year I leased the utero of Ansata Samiri in foal to Area Sirhaan; so my filly and her mother were in the stud-farm of the owner.
I also hope my special filly will be found !
PLEASE HELP ME !!!

Dear Annalisa,
I can not believe what I am reading here.
Send us a picture of your filly, give us the village, adress of the place where your filly was at home?
Have you called the police?
Is the mother still at this place? What is the owner of the mare doing?
How old is your filly?
I wish you the very best to find your filly again,
hope we can do anything for you,

I'm very sorry to read this.
I know that it doesn't bring back the filly but I want to encourage all horse owners to get their horses implanted with a microchip. It doesn't harm/disturb the horse, it's a minor operation like an injection, it's not expensive, every vet does it and the chances of getting the horse back increases considerably. The more common it becomes to chip horses, the more difficult it gets to steal and to sell/market stolen horses, because they are easily identifiable any time at any place equipped with a reading item (usually all of the pivate and official vets have it).
So don't hesitate and call your vet today!

Hello Dr Wigger, What is the cost where you are to put in a chip? I ask this because in the future and thanks to the BSe scare in cattle which have to wear ear tags so the Govnts know where they are moving threw the system at all times..They want to do this with horses also..After the cost of bloodtyping and dna , they wiil probably go to chips in horses...This is why I ask the cost? If our Govnt mandates this I want to know how badly I am getting soaked ..

Dear Carol,
the costs are variable. It depends on the price of the microchip, the number of horses to be chipped and if it is done as a part of further treatments or procedures, the distance to drive for the vet etc. Some vets apply a local anaesthetic first, some don't.
To chip a single horse without further procedures and without the visting fees would cost around 35 € all inclusive in Germany. That should nearly be the price in US $, too. If you want several animals to be chipped the price is certainly negotiable. If you have a nasty or panic horse that makes a sedation and/or local anaesthetic necessary to place the chip correctly, you won't find a vet doing it for 35 $ ...

I don't know where in the world you are Carol but in the UK most vets seem to offer it for between £20 and £30. I had my horses done while having routine injections and the cost was £20 all in, per horse. Quite cheap I thought

Very Sorry to read of the theft. Was it in Italty? I recall hearing of something similar before the show in Menton. The best place to look may be unofficial races or sports events-without papers she would not be eligible for official ones but maybe that would be where she will appear-or at least broadcast offers of rewards for her return at such places? Wishing you the best of luck, Alia

I am also a very firm believer in freeze branding. Besides the standard freeze brand system, I bought a set of brands for my colt and had my vet put my initials on his flank, and my zip code on the other flank. If the brands are left on long enough, they will burn the hair off, which is what I wanted. Together with the chip implant, it goes a long way to get a horse recovered if it goes missing. Selling the horse with my info on would not be a problem as legal documents would show the new buyer as owner. And I think something like this may help to prevent horse abuse. If a horse is taken from someone due to not being taken care of, just trace the brand and chip and that person might want the horse back.
