Kaely
Hi,

I am looking for photos and information on Marah and her descendants.

Can anyone help?

Thankyou,

Kaely
Mose Arabians
I owned a daughter of Marah, *UP MARFA by Farag, until two years ago when we lost her to a ruptured uterine artery at foaling - luckily we have retained her daughter by *Norus and her future is exceptional to say the least. Marfa was a prized broodmare for us - and was such a consistent producing mare of refinement, size, and pure elegance. I have photos that I need to upload to show here that were sent to me but Marah is a lovely mare! You can see more of Marah and other get Mose Arabians Mares

Here is another of Marah (Galal x Maysa)

Here is her granddaughter Marah Azale MA (by *Norus) her name means Eternal Joy.

Her son Sura Azaq (by Hehtif) - his name means grey image.

Her son Majiic MA (by El Majiid)

And several other lovely foals... I need pull up photos of!
Kaely
Thankyou for posting the photos of Marah, and her daughter UP Marfa (and her lovely family).

I am curious about her Nagel-bred daughters Bushra and Matala Bint Marah, also Layla and Sherifa(?).

I saved some photos of Marah from the Galal thread in the old forum, I will post them here.

Firstly Marah, this photo was taken when she was an old mare at Dobel Arabians

... and secondly Baghdady (Ansata Halim Shah x Bushra by Jamil x Marah)

Layla (Mahomed x Marah) was a spectacular mare with that extraspecial TYPE! Her sister Sherifa was of equal quality. I will look for some photos of Layla.

... me too - and he has type - and he has colour - and he has a gold premium at the VHS and he has been successful at the HLP. He should be among the top ten of the most used SE stallions here BUT almost the opposite is the case ...
Michael
Dr. Wigger you hit the nail right on the head!
I always hear the breeders complain that too few stallions did their performance test but now there is one splendid individual that possesses charm, personality, show ring success, type, movement, colour, formidable pedigree which tracing back to one of the most successful families in Egyptian breeding, and exquisite performance potential and what happens? NOTHING! This is the reality in Germany I fear. Show credentials and the prestige of the owners (see Ansata Selam who was booked by many sight unseen because he is in the ownership of a Sheikh) outweight all other traits. It's such a pity.

Dear Racheal,

... I don't know - please contact the owner, Mrs. Grefenstein:

Hi,
M-Sharin looks wonderful. I am curious about his pedigree, who is his sire? Who is his dam? Is Marah in his sire's pedigree or his dam's? Is he a typical representative of her family?

Sorry for all these questions,

Kaely
Dr Daniel Wigger
Dear Kaely,

Sire: Ibn Bint Inas (formerly: Halim Shah-3) by Ansata Halim Shah out of Bint Inas by Gassir
Dam: Shannah by Ibn Galal/Magdi out of Layla by Mahomed (out of MARAH).

So his dam is linebred to Galal.

And, yes, I think he is quite a typical representative of Marahs family. The Grefensteins own a direct Ansata Halim Shah doughter out of his dam Shannah and practise close linebreeding. Although both are gold premium stallions neither his father nor M'Sharin himself are used much here. Several descendants have been exported to Egypt standing at Moustafa Omars Ikhnaton-stables, some are here in Germany. I'm proud to own a grand-daughter of M'Sharin biggrin.gif

This is Ibn Shah Mabrouk. Photo by Kerstin Anders from the Asil Cup article at this site.

And this, as promised, is Layla (Mahomed x Marah), born in 1974, bred by Dr. nagel, owned by the late Lore Jattiot
Fingers crossed the pic will show up!

Hello,
Thanks everybody for the photos and posts.
It looks like Galal's influence is very noticeable, most obviously in the chestnuts of this family. It is very interesting to see his influence on German Straight Egyptian breeding and to see his phenotype showing up generations later. His line also seems to produce performance ability consistently.

Any thoughts?

Hello all,

we like the "Marah - line" too!
Our M Sharin daughter Shalana is out of Shayla II ( Malik el Nil x M Shalimah ( Ansata Halim Shah x Shannah)).
Her mother Shayla is sold to Egypt with Shalanas`fullsister.
She is "linebreed to Shannah/Layla/ Marah".

Best Regards.

Sven

Another photo of Layla (Mahomed x Marah) can be found in the PEDIGREE DATABASE.

Here is a more recent pic of Ibn Shah Mabrouk
