Any results yet? I hear that Samara Al Naarah was named champion mare in the international show! biggrin.gif

bravo Mieke & Ward with the victory!!

Simeon Sharav, owned by Albadeia Stud, and bred by Simeon Stud in Australia, walked away with the title of International Champion at the Egyptian National Show, taking place this weekend. Beautiful stallions from throughout the middle east were competing, but it was this gorgeous, Egyptian owned stallion that took the day. A big congratulations to Dr. Nasr Marei, and Marion Richmond, his breeder, for their sweeping win!!
Another AB Fan
Congratulation for Al Badeia Stud and Simeon Sharav and Al Khalediya Farm and Samara El Naarah! It was not easy winning against all this famous horses from Saudi which came to the show. Especially the senior stallion classes were full with former world and res. world champions like F Shamaal, Galba, WF Daseefa, Aja Sangali ...
DennisGuest
but then even the seniro stallion and senior mare championship were won by horses which were not bred in egypt. this is a bit sad isn't?!
nevertheless - its nice to see horses like simeon sharav and samara el narah winning as they are beautyful horses of straight egyptian lines.
Guest
Well it is definitely disappointing that the horses were not bred in Egypt but what is more distressing is the politics. If you want to see bad judging and bias at it's best then you should have been at this show. It was a little bit too obvious and the Saudis after winning the male junior championship and acting as they did , left no choice to the judges but to abandon whatever agreement or understanding they had beforehand.. Mr. Santoro's judging was bewildering, horses he judged in Egypt at EAO shows not long ago and scored 20s didn't get even close. The most distressing of all is allowing all this makeup on the horses. It is just utterly disgusting . Oil on the horses enough to fry an egg. Ofcourse the whole idea is to try and give the impression of larger black eyes.Isn't this cheating? Where is ECAHO why do they allow this nonsence. Horses should only be clipped (not around the eyes) and nothing and I mean nothing including oil or anything should be applied . Does any one have the guts to take such a decision. I wish they would also prohibit whips from the shows, Horse would not be pointing their necks in such a ridiculous way and is this bad . Ewe,short, heavy necks and ugly throat latches will be revealed. I think this would be good for the industry don't you?. Championships will maybe go to the real naturally well conformed horses.

More importantly, I wish Egypt would not follow in the foot steps of Europe and America and maintain the integrity of their horses. We used to complain in the past how untidy and unruly the horses looked like in shows in Egypt but it was natural and honest. Maybe one day Egypt will get wiser and realize that show fads and trainer imposed disciplines are going to be the reason for the downfall of breeding in Egypt which is a pity considering the rennaisance that Egypt has been witnessing over the last decade. Everyone knows the Saudis are not breeders merely sitting at the sideliness to purchase the Champions and will try and win at any cost. Only over a year ago you the horses at the two shows in Egypt were shown naturally. Maybe Egypt should impose their show rules and not get dragged in by the Saudis or anyone else. ( who showed last year for the first time) I wonder if the Saudis would return if Egypt imposes a strict no whip no makeup rule. Would ECAHO allow them to do so?

Does somebody can tell me who won the junior and senior championships?

I missed last year's show but heard a lot about the lovely horses that the Saudis brought to Egypt. This year it was no different. Some of the finest Arabians were shown at the EAO by the Saudis. I am pleased that with such strong competition, of the eight championships, three went to Egypt. Overall the competition was quite strong. To Dennisguest I say that while it would have been nice if Egypt's winning horses would have all been bred locally, it doesn't diminish the win. Remember, most of the Saudi horses were also not bred in Saudi (at least I think so). One must not forget in reviewing the show to also mention class winners, many of which were bred in Egypt. You can argue that this horse or that should have won, but in such a competition all participants are to be commended. I participated with a young filly and a two year old and didn't do too well. I did not know what to expect, and in all honesty my horses weren't ready. Others have invested time and effort in preparing their horses and deserved to win. Maybe next year things will be different who knows. Overall it was a great show. Excessive makeup, as guest points out, was disturbing, but I think it's true of all shows and not exclusive to the EAO show. Many of the exhibitors complained and I am sure it will be taken under advice. The good news is that I have agreed with Dr. Helmy, the EAO Director, to shift the Nationals, organized by the Breeders Association, which is held at Sakkara, to the first quarter of next year (probably around the Qatar show), which would allow the EAO to have their show in November. The horses would have had more time to get back into shape following the hot summer months and the two shows would be spread at least 4 months apart.

Wonderful to hear that the Egyptian Event was such a success - congratulations to all of the beautiful horses! smile.gif

Thank you for the results. I'm so excited Moutazat AlBiwibiya was the Jr. Champion filly. I bred Thee Ricochet and he was Egyptian National Champion at that show last year. I hear he was there again this year, do you know how he scored? Robert Cass saw Ricochet and his three new babies recently and came back to Texas raving about the filly Were you at the show? Would love to hear more about the filly and Thee Ricochet.

So the EAO is back again organizing the ECAHO Nationals. Wow this is good news. The EAO has finally accepted that all horses join. I was sure it would happen and that it was a matter of time. Congratulations
mounibz
Deborah,
May be Dina was not clear about this, the local EAO show is called National but not ECAHO affiliated, the one affiliated is that taking place in December in Sakkara each year.
Hope this clarifies.

Too bad I though the EAO has changed their position. I am still confident that one day it will happen. Thanks for the clarification

Oliver your welcome, it's a pleasure to post the results, and as mentioned before I do have alot of other pictures but I have to find the time to adjust them and post them. Just hope I can do that soon.

Hello Dina,

I am looking forward to being able to travel over next year. I enjoyed the show at the Saqqara Country Club last December & would love to be at the EAO for the show. It must be just the best atmosphere!! The grounds are so beautiful, it is hard to imagine a show being held there. Although having attended the sales there it doesn't take a huge amount of imagination!!!

You know it is so nice to drive down the palm treed avenue to the office at the EAO & just spend time wandering around with the horses. To be there when a show is beind held must be pure magic.

Would be great to visit with you & your horses. Your horses are stabled near Tariq's aren't they?

Congratulations on your marriage, I hope all goes well for you in the future.

Kindest wishes............Debbie.
Dina M.

Hello Dina,

It would be wonderful to visit with you & your horses. I will look forward to that, but sadly it will be next year at the earliest.

Am looking forward to seeing more of your photo's taken at El Zahraa. When I saw Simeon Sharav awarded with Reserve Champion at Saqqara last December & then again at home at Al Badeia, I knew that he was going to go on to be a strong show contender. He has proven me right, he is truly a beautiful horse with excellent movement & look at me presence. There are many glorious horses in Egypt & I am pleased to be able to say that I have seen some of them in the flesh!

Would loved to have been there to see it all happen, but will be satisfied with yours & others photo's. Thanks to those who have posted photo's, greatly appreciated.

My email address is tiawarra@bigpond.com, if you would like to stay in touch.

All the best................Debbie.

For your information, The JR. Champion Colt Moutazat Al Biwibiya and the Jr. Champion filly and reserve were bred by the Saudis. Before you can be a breeder you must first purchase a foundation of mare and stallion. Your comments are absolutely unessessarry.

I wonder how Mutair looks right now.
Saw him the last time when he was 2 years old.
Carolyn Shelton
Hello Dina,
I think you have the Reserve Jr. Champion filly and Jr. Champion filly mixed up. Moutazat Albiwibiya was the Jr. Champion and Laha AlKhalidiah was the reserve. My question is, do the have the photos mixed up too? Which is which?
Dina M.
Hello Carolyn,

I am sure the pictures are not mixed up however when I get home from work I will check the results booklet and let you know if I made a mistake.

All the best

Dina ....
Also, Shaza Albadeia was Champion Senior mare and not Reserve.
Thanks .

Sorry for the mistake Dr.Nasr I did correct it . I guess I have to review the results again as I had a bad Jet lag when I put them down, but I don't think there will be other mistakes.

Hi Carolyn,

I have checked the results and I am right Champion filly is Laha Al Khalidiah, and Resereve is Moutazat Al Biwibiya and the rest of the results are correct.
