Amira-Madheen (Maydan-Madheen x Shahneekha) Breeder: Horst Preuss/Germany Owner: Schwestermann-Lawless/Ireland Amira-Madheen is the sister to other well-known horses that won at many occasions. Last year her full sister Shabboura caught the Junior Champion Filly title. Amira-Madheen is a very leggy and upright filly and displayed an exaggerated trot and a very good walk. Her dam Shahneekha, a rare daughter of Anaza Bay Shahh, quietly achieved the status of a producer of supreme foals for her owner, the German breeder Horst Preuss. Reserve

Without any doubt Princess Madheen was one of the best fillies of the Event. Extremely elegant, with long lines and a very upright and fitting neck, Princess Madheen is smooth bodied with a level topline and two pairs of clean legs. With a mom like The Princess of Egypt is it any wonder that her head looks like a bronze of Karen Kasper? A well deserved win for this classically beautiful filly! Reserve Junior Champion Filly

Photo: Erwin Escher Shakawa Albadeia is a daughter of the acclaimed Albadeia head stallion Farid Albadeia out of one of the most beautiful Albadeia mares, Galagel Albadeia (a full sister to the famed Gelgelah Albadeia). She's a very balanced filly with a neck in tune with her body but I felt Shakawa had a little too much weight on her. Like most Albadeia horses she knows how to use her hocks and is a powerful mover. Photo: Carola Toischel He won his class in very tough competition (in fact the eventual Reserve Junior Champion Colt Massubi was second to him) and this says something about DF Malik Jamil's class and quality. He is nothing but type and attitude and showed off like a million dollars. He is one of those rare colts with a short back and a very upright neck and a good shoulder. Needless to say he also won the trophy for the "most classical head". No doubt he was one of the crowd's favourites. Reserve Junior Champion Colt

Senior Champion
Mare

Photo: Erwin Escher The senior females are always an eyeful at this show, and this year was no exception. This extremely typey and good moving mare is a proven winner at many shows. She has impeccable type and is a quality individual with a beautiful face that has an extreme dish. Loubna was a breathtaking site with her mane and tail flowing as her beautiful body sailed through the show ring. A lovely creature that deserved the victory.

stranger to the winners circle, Samara El Naarah is the epitome
of a lovely broodmare. She isn't exactly as "show off" but
is everything a breeder is looking for into a mare. She has a perfectly
balanced body and correct legs. Everything is in harmony and she moves
with grace. One of the many beautiful daughters of the late champin
stallion El Thay Ibn Halim Shah. Senior

Farres (Anaza El Farid x Shameerah) Breeder: D. Teitrick/USA Owner: Michael Resch/Canada
Photo: Erwin Escher An ulta-elegant stallion with a long neck, Farres has size and nice presence. This good-looking guy has a lovely disposition. He received a perfect score for his ethereal type (three times "20") and won his class with an amazing 113,67 points thus made Farres the high-scoring stallion of the Event.

Hadidi (Norus x Hebet Allah) Breeder: Gleannloch Farms/USA Owner: Ida Arsenault & Franco Grotteria/Italy

This stallion has been amazingly successful in the show ring. Baden-Baden was no exception. Though Hadidi was only second in his class (behind the afore-mentioned MA Alishah), the judges liked him better in the championships. He is a statuesque stallion with presence galore and a big and majestic mover. The judges obviously didn't like his legs and scored him accordingly (15/16/15). Hadidi was handled by Scott Allmann and he did a tremendously good job on him. I never saw Hadidi as relaxed as in Baden-Baden.
