DATA Date of birth: 05/26/1999 |
From one of the most highly esteemed sire lines in Egyptian breeding, Relaks accurately reflects his breeding. His sire, Matal (Maysoun x Matala Bint Marah by Jamil) has been one of the first-born sons of the German "Elite" stallion Maysoun and was exported to Sweden as a youngster. A son of the legendary Ansata Halim Shah who revolutionized Egyptian breeding in Europe and the Middle East, Maysoun is the only straight Egyptian stallion in Germany who has the distinction to sire eight (!) sons who were awarded a gold medal at the annual German Stallion Show. The alabaster white Maysoun is known for producing equally good sons and daughters who built the foundation for many studfarms in Europe. Two of his sons were awarded with the title of Senior Champion Stallion of the prestigious Egyptian Event in Kentucky. Relaks’s sire Matal traces in tail female line to the coveted mare Marah (Galal by Nazeer x Maysa), who was imported by Dr. Nagel to Germany. A three-quarter sister to the famous broodmatron Magidaa (Alaa El Din by Nazeer x Maysa), Marah is the founder of a dynasty of her own in Europe. Relaks’s dam, RA Rebecca (Prince Fa Moniet x Ansata Serena by Ansata Ibn Halima) was bred by Ansata Arabian Stud and imported in utero to Sweden. A Dahman Shahwaniyah in strain, she traces back to the "Queen mother of Ansata", the fleabitten grey mare Ansata Bint Bukra (Nazeer x Bukra), one of the most influential mares of modern Egyptian breeding. PERSONALITY Relaks has a ton of charisma. He is a very special stallion and he knows it. Relaks is extremely playful and a happy horse. "He loves attention and when you play with him, he is just in heaven," says his owner, Hanne Berg of SMJ Arabians in Norway. Her daughter can easily handle him because he is extremely well mannered. She was only eleven years old when she rode him the very first time. Relaks is such a gentle soul. "But at the same time he is also a 'man’: He is every bit a stalion when he is in charge of his mares or put on a show for visitors!" He loves to work under saddle and can’t wait to get out of the stall for you to get on him. "Even though he is such a tall stallion and looks like a giant, every time we sit down in the middle of his paddock and call him he will come over to us and cuddle", says Hanne Berg. "His confidence in us, his family, is something special and we are very grateful and humble to have him here at our small studfarm."
